In the baking dish you will use, or in a small saucepan, caramelize the sugar with water over medium heat. When the mixture has a golden color, pour it into the baking dishes and quickly spread it over the bottom. Let it set.

Leche Asada is a popular dessert known for its simplicity and delicious taste. It's a great way to enjoy a sweet treat after dinner and let yourself be carried away by South American home cooking.
Ingredients
Ingredients for Leche Asada
- 1 cup sugar (for caramel)
- 2 tablespoons water (for caramel)
- 4 cups whole milk
- 4 pcs eggs
- 0.5 cups granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 pc cinnamon stick or a piece of lemon zest (optional)
Instructions
Step 1: Preparing the Caramel
Step 2: Preparing the Pudding Mixture
In a saucepan over low heat, warm the milk, but do not boil it. If using, add the cinnamon stick or lemon zest. In another bowl, whisk the eggs with the sugar and vanilla extract. Gradually pour the warm milk into the egg mixture while stirring continuously.
Step 3: Baking
Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Pour the mixture through a sieve into the dishes with the caramel. Place the dishes in a larger baking pan and pour hot water into it (a water bath) up to half the height of the dishes. Bake for 45-60 minutes, until the pudding is set, but the center still jiggles slightly.
Step 4: Cooling and Serving
Remove the dishes from the oven and let them cool at room temperature, then place them in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours. Leche Asada is traditionally inverted from the mold, but you can also serve it directly in the bowls, which is popular in Chile.
